found themselves in the final of the 2008
Belhaven College Futsal Tournament against
the home team. The Crew was up 3-1 at
halftime but failed to score in the second half
while Belhaven tied the score by the end of
regular time. Belhaven scored in golden goal

Crew with 2nd place. The Crew defeated
Delta State University's 2nd team in the
semi-final and defeated Delta State
University's 1st team, Belhaven College's 2nd
team, and a college recruit team to win their

impression" said Crew defender Jeff Bowman.

GULF COAST CREW BOW OUT IN SEMIS
GULF COAST CREW BOW OUT IN SEMIS
PASCAGOULA, Miss. - The 2008 Gulf Coast
Crew 7-a-side was a success although the
tournament hosts were beaten in the
semi-finals against the eventual tournament
winner, Los Tres Amigos from Gulfport,
Mississippi. In group play the Crew beat
Alexandria Extreme and Fire but lost to Fury
Futbol Club from Jackson, Mississippi. The
Crew still won their group because of a
three-way points tie that came down to goal
differential. The Crew looked unprepared and
seemed to start each game of the tournament
flat. The few highlights from the Crew came
from Ryan Zelenka, David Smith, and Cooper
Kimbrell goals and Kyle Miller's saves in goal.
The final was between Pascagoula Futbol
Club and the undefeated Los Tres Amigos.
The 2008 Gulf Coast Crew 7-a-side was
sponsored by Budweiser.

CREW EARNS SILVER AT 2008 GULF COAST 7-A-SIDE INVITATIONAL
CREW EARNS SILVER AT 2008 GULF COAST 7-A-SIDE INVITATIONAL
GAUTIER, Miss. - The Gulf Coast Crew
finished in second place in the 2008 Gulf
Coast 7-a-side Invitational, one of the largest
7-a-side tournaments in Mississippi and the
Gulf Coast. Without a keeper on the
tournament roster the Crew surprised
themselves as they advanced to the finals.
Crew strikers Ryan Zelenka and David Smith
rotated throughout the tournament in the
goalkeeper position. In dramatic fashion the
Crew won a golden goal overtime semi-final
game versus Legion, a team they tied earlier
in bracket play. Matt Clifton scored the goal to
advance the team to the final. The Crew lost
in the final to Catrachos as they seemed to
be worn down from the exciting semi-final.
Earlier in the tournament the Crew placed
second in bracket play by beating Wasted
Effort 4-3 and the tie with Legion 5-5. In the
quarter-finals the Crew took down Mexico 6-4.

GAUTIER, Miss. - Just after viewing 4th of
July fireworks the night before the Crew
quickly prepared to start bracket-play at the
Singing River Classic 5-a-side tournament.
With only two scheduled bracket games the
Crew came out dragging and lost both of
them which placed them as the low seed for
the tournament play-off bracket the following
day. A rejuvenated team in the play-offs the
Crew went on an undefeated play-off run to
capture first place in the tournament beating
Liverpool in the quarter-final, Washouts in
the semi-final and Keesler in the
championship match. The Gulf Coast Crew
consisted of Jeff Bowman, Kyle Kimbrell,
Brock Moss, Angel Plascencia, Neil Scott,
Terry Silva, Nick Zelenka and Ryan Zelenka.
CREW TAKES FIRST PLACE AT SINGING RIVER CLASSIC 5-A-SIDE
PASCAGOULA, Miss. - With good weather
and a great atmosphere the 1st annual Gulf
Coast Crew 3v3 tournament was seen as
successful in almost every way. Youth and
adult teams traveled from all over the
southeastern United States to join in and
compete. The Crew had a good run in the
tournament ending up with silver metals after
a sudden death shoot-out with the STYSA
Twisters in the adult finals. At the end of
regulation the Crew and Twisters were tied
and advanced to a golden goal overtime
witch was scoreless. A shoot-out was next
and with the first round also ending equal the
Crew fell short when the shoot-out became a
sudden death competition. In the Crew's
semi-final another close game ended at the
Crew scored in golden goal overtime against
the Gulf Coast Dynasty. In the boy's under-16
division the Tech Titans won first place,
FCFC won second place and the Dream
Team won third place. In the under-12
division the St. John Warriors won first place,
the Pelicans II won second place and the
Pelicans I won third place. In the under-10

CREW MISS FINAL AT "SUMMER SIZZLER" INDOOR TOURNEY
BIRMINGHAM, Alab. - The Gulf Coast Crew
traveled to Birmingham, Alabama to
participate in the "Summer Sizzler" indoor
tournament. Few on the team had
experienced soccer in this indoor style of
play. The Crew's first game was a loss to
Memphis Dragons FC. Memphis Dragons FC
are a team comprised of previous players
from the Memphis Mojo, a pro indoor soccer
team that once had plans to join the
American Indoor Soccer League. With many
lessons learned from the first match, the
Crew earned their first indoor soccer victory
against Mexico United. In game three the
Crew lost to Santa Fe de Colombia by one
goal. The Crew lead most of the match until
Santa Fe de Colombia put in two goals near
the end of regulation time. Santa Fe de
Colombia went on the beat Memphis Dragons
FC in the final with a score of 5-2. With much
indoor soccer experience gained throughout
the weekend, the Gulf Coast Crew players
look forward to participating next year.

CREW FINISH UNDEFEATED AT "CHRISTMAS WITH THE CREW"
CREW FINISH UNDEFEATED AT "CHRISTMAS WITH THE CREW"
PASCAGOULA, Miss. - The second annual
"Christmas with the Crew" 7-a-side
tournament saw the Gulf Coast Crew defeat
Fury FC in the final by a score of 9-6. The
tournament brought many competitive teams
from surrounding areas, all with intent of
finishing top of the tournament. These closely
matched teams kept score lines tight which
gave spectators exciting games to watch
throughout this first ever one-day tournament
hosted by the Gulf Coast Crew. December
12th, 2009 has already been chosen for the
third annual "Christmas with the Crew"
7-a-side tournament with expectations to
open more divisions to continue the fast
growth of this annual winter soccer
tournament on the MIssissippi coast. The Gulf
Coast Crew would like to thank Icelandic
Glacial Water, 180 Energy Drink, and Miller
and Miller Law Firm for sponsoring the
tournament.
GAUTIER, Miss. - The Gulf Coast Crew
ended a weekend of soccer with two first
place finishes. One day after taking first place
in the second annual "Christmas with the
Crew" 7-a-side tournament, the Crew took
home the first place trophy from the Diving
Header Soccer "3v3 Soccer Challenge." The
Gulf Coast Crew entered a White and a Red
team into the tournament with hopes of an
ideal outcome, which included the two teams
meeting in the final of the Men's Open
Division. The Gulf Coast Crew White team did
as needed to fulfill this expectation by winning
first place in their group. The Gulf Coast
Crew Red team tied for first in their group;
however, due to goal differential, they had to
settle for second. Consequently, for the first
time ever, the Gulf Coast Crew players saw
their usual teammates as the next obstacle to
advance to the final. A competitive match of
friends finished with the Gulf Coast Crew
White team victorious over the Gulf Coast
Crew Red team, moving them onto the final.
In the final, the Gulf Coast Crew White team
dominated play as they defeated Cool
Running with a score of 7-2. The Gulf Coast
Crew White team consisted of Patrick
Grafton, Joel Miller, Angel Plascencia, Neil
Scott, and David Smith.
